CONNECTIONS

In its almost four decades of existence, the PPAA  has established and valued connections and linkages with prominent figures in the public, as well as other student organizations through inauguration ceremonies, forums, panels, and social events.

TRANSNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP

As a student-led organization focusing on global affairs, the PPAA has been keen on forming transnational partnership with other politically independent, student-led academic organizations which focused on the study of political science, public policy and international affairs around the world. We believe that partnerships of any kind or scale could unleash positive synergy. As of July 2009, the following parties have become PPAA's global partners.

THE INTERVARSITY POLITICAL SCIENCE DEBATE

Every year, the PPAA joins forces with one of its most long-standing collaborators - the Government and Public Administration Association, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, to co-organize the prestigious Intervarsity Political Science Debate.

In November, 2005, the Debate celebrated its 30th Anniversary as one of the proudest traditions of the Association. Hundreds of spectators came to witness the heated debate each year in the past three decades, with most of them being secondary school students and media reporters. Every year, a specific topic in Political Science, usually Hong Kong politics or public policy, will be selected. The participating teams are the Cantonese Debate Team from HKU, and the GPA Debate Team from CUHK. The Debate is conducted in Cantonese, and is organized in the CUHK in even years and in HKU in odd years.

Prominent politicians, journalists, and academics have been invited to be adjudicators, such as The Hon Maria TAM Wai-chu, CBE, GBM, GBS, JP and The Hon Leung Chun-ying, GBM, GBS, JP, Members of the Basic Law Drafting Committee and Mr. David CHAN Yuk-cheung, who later lost his life in Daoyutai, were invited in 1989; The Hon Alan LEONG Kah-kit, QC, SC, lawmaker in 2004, The Hon Stephen LAM Sui-lung, OBE, GBM, GBS, JP, Secretary for Constitutional Affairs in 2005, The Hon Claudia MO Man-ching, Media Veteran in 2006.
